Is this normal?

Aj

So I’m 17 and I got my first depo shot a little under a month ago I got it exactly 1 week before I was supposed to get my period. I didn’t get it that month I just started my period today and 3-4 hours after I started I passed this blood clot that was as big as a 50 cent piece and about 1/2” thick. My cramps woke me out of my sleep about 30 min before that is this normal???

I know multiple people who had perfectly normal periods and had the depo shot for a while and after they stopped years later they're still all either extremely irregular or even one of my friends completely stoppef ovulating. they don't tell you the risks to your fertility but I've seen far too many girls end up not able to have kids because of it

I only started it because other than the pill it was the only birth control I could get without my moms permission and I kept forgetting to take the pill so my period was really long with a lot a lot of bleeding and my cramps were horrible

You should be asking your doctor. No one on an app knows what's normal for your body

I only asked because a lot of people have been on depo longer than I have and they’ve had similar reactions and knowing that people have had similar reactions kinda puts me at ease

Depo ruined my body. I also passed a blood clot and it was an awful “period”. Lasted for way too long and major cramps. Switched back to the pill asap. But whatever works for your body! Clots and irregular periods are very normal for depo. x
