IUI!?

Question

My doctor is wanting to start iui this cycle. What are your personal stories? How many cycles until you became pregnant? What other medications did you take with it?

Answer

I did my first IUI after a cycle of letrozole (one egg) and a trigger shot, no success.  It didn't go too well thanks to an incredibly inept resident who injured me while putting in the speculum and then blew it off when I said he was hurting me.
The second one was after a cycle of Gonal F with a trigger. Everything went wrong: I started my injections late and ended up ovulating on my own before they were ready for me! We rushed to do the IUI, so my husband had about 10 hours of recharge time instead of 48. This one was done by a nurse and went very smoothly: no pain, no discomfort. I ended up getting pregnant on that cycle and am now 20 weeks!

Answer

I'm about to do my second IUI tomorrow. For each, I went into the dr when my cycle started and they did baseline measurements of my uterine lining and ovaries (by vaginal ultrasound). Then I began doing Follistim injections (I did 150 units the first round and this round I did 225 units per injection). For each round, I used 8-9 injections and then used Ovidrel as my trigger shot. I took the trigger shot at 11 pm on Tuesday and I go in at 9:30 am tomorrow to bring in my husbands sample so they can wash it. Then I have my IUI 10:30 am. I did two IUIs end of last year, I was on Letrozole pills and Gonal-F and Ovidrel shots 😊  I hope it works for you, so exciting!
