Pap Smear for birth control pills?

I'm kinda young so bare with me on this question. I've never been to a gynecologist or had a pap smear and I never wanna. I also don't ever plan on having sex, as I have an extremely low pain tolerance and do not want children. I want birth control pills to help regulate my menstruation so I can do better in school, but my mother told me to get my pills I need an appointment and they'll give me a pap smear. I'm confused and scared and backed out on getting the pills now. why would they do a pap smear on me, a virgin, who's never had sexual contact ever? I get cervical cancer, but 99.7% of cervical cancer cases come from HPV. i dont have HPV. Why would they ever put /anything/ in my vagina for birth control pills? The only reason I can think of is I supposedly could've had Genetic Factor Five, but I was tested for that recently and I don't have it. I want my birth control pills, but I want to avoid having people put things in my vagina. Can anyone tell me why my mom told me I'd have a pap smear?

You can say no to the Pap smear. I don't recommend it, and they'll most likely encourage it, but you can say no and they won't. It's not a big deal.

Why are you so afraid of a Pap smear? It's really not that big of a deal. It's actually very important for your health to be screened. Not all cervical cancer is from HPV. HPV is responsible for about 70%. I think 30% is a pretty big number to put your health at risk for. All they do is insert a tool called a speculum. You will feel a very small amount of pressure inside of your vagina and then they will insert a swab and take some cells from your cervix. It doesn't hurt, it's just a little uncomfortable. I promise you there is nothing to fear. So if you need the birth control pills to regulate your body, don't be afraid. It will be OK.

I didn't have to get one when I went on BC. But they're encouraged if you're sexually active. They aren't that bad and are important for reproductive health

Sometimes cells do what they want and cause cancer.  A pap screens for that.  You need a solid baseline especially because as you get older things are more likely to get out of wack.  Also it can be a good opportunity for your healthcare provider to make sure that your insides are shaped properly and you don't have any abnormal growths.  Obviously they can't hold you down and force you to get a pap but they are part of being an adult with a vagina and cervix.

Please do your research on birth control pills before you take them, especially if you're just taking them to regulate periods. They can cause a lot of issues, and if I wasn't having sex, the last thing I would do was put those in my body everyday. There are natural ways to regulate your period.

Why are you afraid of having a Pap smear? I haven't had one even though I need to go get one. I've had a kid and still haven't had one but honestly it's probably best you do.

You don't need a pap smear to have a prescription for birth control pills. Especially if you're not sexually active or planning on having sex. I didn't need to get one until I started being sexually active, and had a prescription for birth control pills for probably four or five years before that. You'll be fine. It's not required.

it takes like 5 to 10 mins. it's more awkward than uncomfortable. not all cervical cancer is cause by hpv or sexual contact. it's worth it to be uncomfortable for a few minutes to know you are ok versus having cancer 20 or 30 years from now when it can spread to other areas of your body. especially because if you get your regular papsmears it's more likely to be caught early and you have a better chance at treating it than dying from it later down the road.
