Cramping won’t stop

So for the past couple months, I have had slight to almost severe cramping sensations. My period has been fairly regular, but a little bit heavier than it used to be. The cramping is sometimes on the left side and sometimes on the right. When it first started getting slightly more painful it started to feel like gas, but I am going to the bathroom regularly and sometimes when I go to the bathroom the cramps get worse.

I did read up a little bit on IBS and was wondering if anyone With more knowledge on it might know if what I am experiencing is similar. I do have my yearly Pap smear coming up soon so I do intend to ask my doctor about it as well, just asking for regular people opinions, LOL
