Am I the only one?!

Am i the only one with a 4year old toddler (girl) who acts just out of control??? My daughter will throw tantrums by screaming at the top of her lungs, whining like a baby, hitting/punching the floor, throw stuff around, roll around on the ground and just cry cry cry and throw a fit regardless, wont listen! Spanking does not help anything just makes her act out more and putting her in her room (timeout) does not help! Is there something wrong with my daughter or is it a typical toddler???!!!!!
