How did you transition to formula?

So looks like my milk supply is dwindling and I have a few weeks of frozen breast milk left (I’ve been mostly nursing). If you needed to, how did you transition to formula? I tried giving her half bm, half formula and she hated it. Any advice (she’s 9.5 months)?

I've managed to transition to formula for the daytime feeds. Unfortunately it took one tough week of only offering formula and it being constantly refused. Then one day, he just starting happily drinking formula! Just keep going.... You'll get there in the end but it is a very emotional time 😕

We're in the same situation! Our speech therapist recommended doing a quarter formula to breastmilk for a few days and then slowly increase to a 1/3 then half etc.
My LO has been taking the mixed bottles okay but still refuses straight formula m. Hoping this changes soon!

I started with mixing formula with his oatmeal in the morning (instead of breastmilk or water). Once he got the taste of it there he started to like it in the bottle - not sure why it worked for us but it did

My daughter has just started on 1 bottle of formula per day and she was the same. It’s a prescribed one from the dr for her milk allergy and it’s actually worse tasting than normal formula! We added a drop of vanilla extract to her bottle and then over the course of a couple of weeks just did less and less until nothing. Worked a treat! Some people won’t agree bc there might be some sugar in the vanilla extract but it worked and it’s such a tiny amount x

We did supplement formula first mixed in and I put formula on my nipples so he got use the smell.

Have Dad or another person offer formula when you aren’t around. My baby would readily take formula from dad or at daycare if I was at work. If I was home she would not drink it. After she got used to it (and as I began to wean her off the breast) we finally got to where she would take it from me too. Good luck!
