Which breast pump and why?

I haven't tried the others but I really like my Ameda. It's so easy to clean and I can control speed and suction level which is great when my breasts are really sore and just need a break.

I have the medela pump in style and the ameda purely yours. I prefer the ameda purely yours. You don't have to clean the tubes since milk does not go into the tubes. On kellymom I saw a really gross picture of mold growing on the medela pump, so I don't use it much only used that pump once before  I saw the picture. Medela systems are open systems so the milk gets into the tubes and into the motor causing mold growth. Just based on that I would recommend the ameda. My mom purchased the ameda before I found out the insurance company would buy one for me. I got the medela through the insurance just so I could compare the two. I get the same amount of milk from both. The ameda system has a place for batteries the medela has a add on for that, I've never used it. One thing I like about the medela is that the bottles are 5oz and ameda has 4oz bottles. Just to let you know the medela and ameda bottles both work on the ameda pump. So I use medela bottles with my ameda pump. I've never tried the hygenia or the spectra.

I recommended the Medela Freestyle. You can do things throughout your house while pumping making it more convenient. Such as the dishes, or your makeup, household cleaning ect.  Check with your insurance some cover that pump 100%, mine did. If Freestyle isn't an option for you I'd still recommend the Medela Pump in Style.

I'm trying to decide based on good pump and convienence factor of what I can just pick up at the store when I need things. Medela accessory products are everywhere. I don't see much for ameda. For those of you that use ameda, what product accessories do you use with your pump and where do you get them?  Regardless of what pump I choose, what do I absolutely have to have and how much? Like bottles and storage bags.

Medela is SO EASY to clean and sanitize. The pump lasted great while I pumped for a year. Never had to replace any parts and it works off a wall outlet, batteries or a car charger
