How do you feel about abolishment of the jury?

Giving sole power to judges on making decisions. Thoughts on how it would affect the system and why?

I'm not sure if you're American but as an American that is unconstitutional and I'm all about my constitution.

No it should not be solely up to one person on what happens in the court room. The jury should not be abolished.

I'm on the fence, I think that jury's are weak because they can be easily led by strong personalities,  can take irrelevant factors into account, slower, more expensive, can come to a perverse decision which cannot be challenged except by way of a lengthy and costly retrial.

BUT I just don't think you should be without them. I'd rather reform the system to get rid of those problems

I think it would be a terrible idea. Yes there are some judges that abide by the law and don't sentence based solely on their own opinion or agenda, but there are plenty that do. What if you have a racist judge but no one knows it? He could sentence simply bc he's racist against you. Not because of the evidence. I realize that juries are this way as well, but I think having 12 people come to a decision is better than having one.
