They don't tell you whether you ovulate or not. they just detect the LH surge. You generally ovulate within 36 hours of a pos opk.

OPKs can tell your body is getting READY to ovulate, but you can only confirm actual ovulation through temping or ultrasound.  All OPKs do is pick up the Luteinizing hormone surge that signals your body to release an egg.  But it doesn't guarantee you will ovulate.  I've been getting positive OPKs since I stopped taking birth control in May, but I have yet to get confirmation of ovulation through temping. 🤓
