After a baby is born??????

when can you take them a bath?? I saw on FB how a nurse took the baby a bath after a day of being born?? To my knowledge I thought babies were supposed to get bathed a few days later after their umbilical cord falls off.

They can be bathed immediately, you just can’t get the stump wet.

The hospital will give baby a "bath". They don't submerge them though. Wait for belly button to heal before doing that

You should wait to give them a bath until the umbilical cord falls off so you don't risk them getting an infection. If the baby spits up a lot or has a bad diaper blowout before then, it should be safe to give a sponge bath using a damp cloth and a little soap. As long as you don't pour water over the umbilical cord and make sure to dry the baby off really well.

You can just spot bathe them with a cloth. A lot of the time, nurses do bathe the baby a little. Especially to show first time parents how to.
