VBAC??

Question

I got pregnant 11 months after my csection, so when i deliver it will be about 20 months after. My current doctor is telling me absolutely no VBAC because it's too soon. My csection wasn't because of medical reasons, my babys heart was dropping so they had to do an emergency csection to save his life. My friend got pregnant 9 months after her csection and had a successful VBAC which I'm just not understanding. She mentioned it to her doctor and she told her I could totally try for a VBAC if I wanted, just needed to look for a second opinion. I'm confused and really want to try for a VBAC considering I now have to watch for my son and baby #2 and have no one to helo once my husband is off to work. Did anyone have a similar situation with a successful VBAC?

look there is a lot of people on here who are ill informed about VBACS. you can and should try for a vbac and it is actually supposed to be offered and encouraged by every doctor (at least according to the American Congress of Obstetrics and Gynecology). you need to find a different provider because it sounds like yours will pretty much do whatever it takes to give you another csection. while VBACS have risk (like most things) the rupture rates are actually very very low. if he said you were not a candidate he should have valid medical Eveidence as to why, And he should give you current and accurate rupture rates. please look into vbacfacts.com and improvingbirth.org eveidencebasedbirth.com and birthwithoutfearblog.com to help you. those have up to date and accurate information and a huge supportive community.

Ok for your scar to split is very very rare, it has been used by doctors to tell patients to go for the section as it is alot easier for them. You will need to be monitored the whole time cos of first baby n the reasons. I too had emergency section with first cos of the same reason I tried vbac for second the doctors told me it was upto me and you knpw what non pf the doctors even tried scaring me with the whole ypur scar can tear crap. I tried but I didnt progress so after 20 hours I said screw it n opted for another section ...... next time around the doctors have informed that I would need a section again as here in Australia they say after two sections in a row you automatically have to have them afterwards however my scar tissue is fine its not bad so in other words I could easily try for another vbac if I found  a doctor willing to do so. I would get a second opinion but however its got to do with the scar tissue if theres too much or even the way or how they cut you open is also the concern hope some of this helps

Everyone is different. VBAC's are just so risky because it can cause you to split that previous opening/uterine lining during labor and have major hemorrhaging. Many doctors don't feel comfortable with the high risk. But like I said, everyone is different and you may be just fine!!!

It depends on the doctor of they're comfortable letting you try or not. There's a whole medical history to consider, not just the length of time between. You could always get a second opinion from someone who reviewed your history and has the full picture.
