On April 17th I went to the hospital thinking I was in labor but when I got there my contractions were not long enough an I was only dilated to 3cm. On the 19th I lost my mucus plug. On April 20th the contractions seem to be closer and longer. My husband got home around noon and I called my midwife at 1 letting her know everything that was going on and she insisted I get checked out. The moment we got in the car the contractions were getting worse. We were at the hospital by 2pm and the contractions were terrible. I was 5cm and 90%. It took the nurses forever to get the IV in me because I was having a contraction every 2 minutes! By the time the got me ready to go in to the tub for pain I could barely move. I was experiencing all back labor. The tub was doing the trick and I really felt the need to push. I was able to go to the bathroom before I started pushing. At 4:20pm I was given the okay to push because I was 10cm and when I pushed a second time my water exploded. I only remember pushing 5 times in that 10minutes. 4:30pm my son was born only after 2&1/2 hours of labor at the hospital. During the pushing I did end up using the gas mask which did help a lot. I even used it when my midwife had to give me 3 stitches. They put my beautiful son on me immidiately after he was born an my husband cut the umbilical chord. The moment he layed on my belly he peed lol. They said his umbilical chord was very healthy but there was something weird about the placenta. My midwife said it looked over developed and maybe I wasn't really 10days early with my son, but maybe I was further along. I actually found this funny because I thought I was further along from the start lol. But my son Steven Douglas Gott the 3rd was born weighing 7 pounds and 4 ounces and was 20inches long. He passed all of his tests with flying colors. The only thing is he is tongue tied and it makes breast feeding a little harder on us. But he is amazing an handsome little boy<3
