Flu Shot?

My 3 year old got her flu shot yesterday, the first shot she's ever gotten in her arm. She's a had the flu shot before and I don't remember her having any kind of reaction, but this looks so red! Is this normal?

Some redness and irritation is normal. Slight swelling too. Keep her arm moving to help spread the vaccine. If you are really concerned or she starts showing other signs of discomfort, give your pediatrician a call for answers and/or reassurance.

I’m an RN. Yes it is normal. If it starts to become extremely painful or she starts showing more worrisome signs of discomfort such as uncontrollable crying, gasping for air, high fever, or a great deal of swelling, you should take her in. A small amount of redness, irritation, and swelling at the injection site is nothing to be worried about!
