Gender Choices?

Should you be able to choose the gender of your child in adoption?

I've heard both sides: No, because women statistically choose girls. Yes, biology took away their ability to have one so to even the playing field they should get to choose. 
I'm 50/50. I feel that you don't have a choice when naturally conceiving so why in adoption, but I also see wanting to build that ideal family you're body is preventing you from having. What do you all think?

In adoption you might as well get the choice. It’s better the child end up with parents who genuinely want them and won’t end up disappointed because they got given a child at random. I know that’s what happens with conceiving, but we want to ENCOURAGE adoption, not turn people away from it. It may not be logical but if that’s what it takes to get kids out of the system and into happy homes I think that’s a fair price to pay.

I think anything you can do to help make an adoption successful is worth it, choosing an approximate age, gender etc

Yes, I specifically want to adopt a child born a girl from a country where women are treated poorly- I will always allow my children to choose their gender though, of course. I think as long as someone has the intent to help and adopt a child I don't see a harm in choosing a certain gender.

I'm adopting and am allowed to choose gender and age. I'm a woman and best equipped to raise a girl who is not an infant and not too old. It's my choice to make the decision that best suits our family, including our future daughter.

If you got to choose the gender of your child the world would end up with problems like China where there are too many males compared to females, this leads to an unstable population growth. But there are many health problems that can be avoided if certain family could choose the gender of their child
