Sorry but it’s not a parenting choice?

I was taught sitting rear facing until 2 wasn’t a parenting choice but the LAW! I see all these people letting a baby barely learning to sit in a child’s car seat not rear facing and I’m always super confused because weight limit and the rear facing law? What do you think it is? Because I’m honestly just confused at this point like some people will argue endlessly with me about it.

My daughter is 2 but she’s only 28 pounds. In other words she doesn’t weigh enough to forward face yet! I think children should sit rear facing as long as possible.

It honestly depends where you live, but like a lot of things it should be common sense for all.  In my state and many other it’s only law until 1 years old... other states it’s 2.... from a post yesterday, I learned that some countries like New Zealand allow front facing at 6 months.  Now regardless of the law, anyone who has done their research knows that a child’s spine isn’t fully fused until 4 years old so children should ideally be rear facing until that point.  Turning them before that point may be within your lawful right, but still putting your child at risk. It’s up to each parent to know the law where they live, but to also do their research to keep their kids safe. 
Like I said, in my state it’s legal to front face at 1..... but I will be rear facing for much longer, my convertible car seat rear faces until 50lbs.

I live in Missouri and the law is rear facing until 1 and 20 lbs. However I know people that have turned their baby around at 6 mo and even had them in the front seat like that all because it’s convenient. I’m thinking is convenient really worth your child’s life? Yes they know better.

It depends what state you live in. Not all states have 2 years, and some states like WI have 2 years or when X height/weight. It is also based on your child’s car seat guidelines.
