Self weening or teething?

My son is teething. I know this for a fact. He has one of his top teeth coming down and the other three top teeth are showing signs that they're coming down too and have been for about 2-3 weeks.

My son has a terrible runny nose for I swear the last month. At first it was due to a cold that he caught in daycare and then gave to me. It seemed to go away for a little while and then came back this Sunday. I'm assuming it's because of teething? But that's not really my question, lol

My son is almost 11 months old. We nurse to sleep and co-sleep. Nursing to sleep is a terrible habit and I know that I need to break it. (I need to start weening him in general because we want to conceive a second child and the doctor said that they won't start me on fertility treatment until 6 months after we stop nursing. 🙄 But that's a post for another time...)

The last few nights when I'm trying to put him down to bed or when he wakes for a night feeding (he still does quite often, especially since teething started around 9 months - I don't know if it's normal how much he wakes up at night 🤷‍♀️), he has been crying when he nurses and will bite me! He has been sitting up and changing positions to lay the opposite direction of me too (feet to head). When he does this or unlatches or I jerk away after a bite, he will fuss/cry for a while. Sometimes he will come back to nurse and then repeat or if he doesn't he will just fall asleep.

Is this him self weening from needing to nurse to sleep or is he doing this because of discomfort of nursing with teething?
