Do you have to pump your breasts after using a nipple shield?

I asked several people who have been using nipple shields if they needed to pump and none of them have had a problem with supply from using the shield. My daughter is almost 6 weeks old now and I have not needed to pump either. You can always do it to be safe though :)

I was told by my lactation consultant to "insurance pump" after every four feedings. I usually pump after two feedings a day, and usually get around 6 oz. a day total.

I was told by a lactation consultant that you should if you can because a shield may impact the baby's ability to drain the breast completely.
