New friend/crush

So I’ve met a boy at my new school, we’ve been texting for about a month now every evening and morning. We also see each other at school. My parents and our other friends at school tease us both for being so close.

We both like each other, but we both have quite low self esteem and confidence, so I’m not sure if we should become more or stay best friends.

I don’t want things to become awkward between us.

I should also mention we both have zero experience in relationships.

Ps. We are both 14 and not comfortable with sex, kissing or anything that intimate, at such a young age.
