bamboo smells funky

so I purchased some bamboo inserts maybe 3 days ago, I prepped them and everything, but I've noticed when I wash them they come out of the wash or dryer smelling a little like pee still but my MF inserts smell perfectly fine! the smell kinda goes away once they're completely dried but it's just so weird because I have no idea if that's normal or not also they have a weird organic musty smell to them when my daughter pees in them. Am I not washing them correctly or something? do I have to wash them a certain way? I never had this problem with my MF only bamboo currently and this is my first time using them!
