It's really wherever you can get the most secure install. I have a toddler in a Graco Contender car seat, and baby will be in a Chicco Keyfit. Graco does not allow for any overlap of car seats, so I cannot put the infant seat in the middle. Both will be in the outboard seats in my SUV.

I’m not saying my vote is correct lol I am putting mine behind my drivers seat so I can see my 4 year old who is already behind the passenger seat ☺️

I mean my daughter has always been behind the passenger seat because of space. I drive a Dodge Dart and I can't put my seat where it needs to be and have a car seat behind me. I really wanted the newborn behind me but now I'm moving my daughter behind me because she's big enough to sit forward and I'll put the newborn behind the passenger again. It's tough and if I didn't have more payments on my Dart I'd upgrade to a larger vehicle but it is what it is for now. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I have 18 month old's convertible seat behind the passenger seat and I have my newborns carseat base in the middle since that just clicks in and we will probably strap baby in and out in the car seat prior to loading. I figure it's easier to strap my son in and out on the outer seats.
