Do you think overall A.I. is going to improve the economy or do you think it will do more harm? Why?

no , i’m not concerned with ai taking jobs from people . i’m sure carriage drivers felt the same way when automobiles started coming out , but then mechanic jobs were created ! i strongly believe that for every new invention that comes and makes one type of occupation disappear , another will be created in its place .

So, this is kind of my purpose for being. I work for cost containment- figuring out ways to do business more efficiently for a savings.  
Here's how I see it- (disclaimer I do this for larger companies and not with entry level jobs).  If I can create a macro or have someone update a process in which we are saving x amount of minutes, I can find a way to move that person somewhere else where maybe it's needed.  
For example- we have doctors literally doing paperwork.  They don't need a damn md to do paperwork,  so we make an update tomhave macros fill in a good chunk of it and for lower paid staff to finish it up.  This gives those doctors the ability to review our clinical guidelines to ensure there aren't gaps.
I don't think we need to fear AI but if we continue to put more burdens like a huge jump in minimum wage and other things on these entry level
Positions, they will find a way to balance the cost.  You don't just add to a budget.  You adapt it.  It's basic finance.

Think about it like this: a company invests a couple million on a machine. While doing so they cut costs on unemployment ins, workers comp, hourly wages/salary, overhead, etc. I can see it happening as we speak actually. Look at banking now and fast food chains. You walk in and there's a big machine people are using for handling their business. It's a little scary to me.

Here's one reason it concerns me. (disclaimer I'm all for livable wages however as I have argued b4 lowering the cost of living would be best) Any way, I've read a few articles discussing how increasing the minimum wage would in turn, not only raise the cost of living but give greedy corporations/corporate executives incentive to higher A.I and replace their "low level" workers. What concerns me about it is while Bill Gates "Robot tax" may help, that doesn't help people who don't fall under the qualification or the people already out of work. Why would companies want to hire humans, that will cost more to employ than Ai? That can potentially result in first time workers (Students/ "unskilled workers") needing more qualifications maybe potentially forcing people to go to college. Which can lead to more people being unemployed due to the high cost of going to school and further your education.
In short, yes it concerns me. For economic reasons, and it's the push for outrageous(imo) hikes in minimum wage to be exact.

I always feel bad when I go to Walmart and see only two people working the checkout lines with 5+ customers in each line, while there are 8 self checkouts available. Those machines are taking a job from a person who could be using that money to feed their family. I don't like going to Walmart but sometimes it's the closest or only thing open. We live in an instant society, of course instead of waiting in those long lines for a person, we will go to the self checkout.. Some things are going to be made worse by it and others will improve.

Fast food places are installing kiosks for people to order at, and grocery stores are doing self checkouts. I definitely think that more jobs are going to be lost due to automation, much like how retail stores are taking a hit due to online shopping.

My concern with AI extends far beyond economics. In terms of the economy, I think it's a double edged sword. While there are aspects of AI that will take jobs away from people, there are also more opportunities that come along with this level of technological advancements.

Unless it becomes a situation where we reach some sort of Fully Automated Luxury Gay Space Communism where luxuries will be available to all people, I don't see it as a positive thing.
