Flu shot??

So I just had my sweet baby girl and we are going home today. I didn't get the flu shot when I was pregnant and I didn't get one after I have birth to her because I feel I don't need and it and hell I've never had the flu....i do have a pretty strong immune system and rarely get sick. Has any other mamas done this and been fine?

So I know a lot of people here comment that “my immune system if fine”: this is very likely true. But it’s not for your benefit you would get the flu shot as pregnant/infant under 6 months. It’s for your child. Who’s immune system isn’t strong. Healthy young people, even if they did get the flu probably nothing will happen. I had the swine flu a few years ago, and it only amounted to a bit of coughing. 
So personally, I got the shot. Cause should the chance be I did get the flu while being pregnant, it could kill my unborn baby. Got her the flu shot again cause seriously, minimising the chance that my child dies is how I make many of my choices. Don’t really care who makes money in it. The disease that kills the most people every year is the flu.

i refuse to get the flu shot. never had one, never had the flu, never get sick. i credit my immune system to working 11 years in a daycare lol. i am 35+4 weeks and my doctor is pushing it and I still refuse. if my immune system is doing the job just fine, why do i need it?

I currently refuses to give it to my one year old. and refused to get it myself at 30 weeks preggo. I feel like it's unnecessary. I was born n the 90's and I never got flu shots growing up, so why all of the sudden is the issue with getting them now?!

I'm a nurse and I get it every year. I've never been sick either. My daughter will be as well. I get it to protect others as well who either due to age or immunocompromised systems can not receive it. I would discuss with your pediatrician.

I have a weakened immune system, so my partner got a flu shot to protect me. Even when nobody around me has a serious flu, I can catch it from them--they'll get the sniffles as their immune system fights it off and not even notice, but then I'll be at serious risk of hospitalization. Sigh. 
Every person who gets immunized is a hero to people like me. Herd immunity is what keeps me from getting disastrously ill all the time. One winter when I was around folks who weren't immunized, I got the flu twice and my asthma made it...bad. 
So I would get immunized if I could, but I can't. :(

I don’t see why you wouldn’t get it. Yes there are a lot of strains of the flu and they pick the few that they predict to affect most people- which is usually correct (not a shot in the dark just to give people unnecessary shots). Many elderly people and babies die from the flu each year bc their body cannot handle it like ours can. So if you were to come across someone exposed to the flu and carry it around (even if you don’t get “sick” from it) you could very likely be putting others in danger, especially your baby. I don’t see any reason to take the chance, it’s free with insurance (or cheap) and isn’t a big inconvenience. It can’t hurt!

Your Baby will not be old enough to get the flu shot this season. They will get the antibodies from you if you get it. It’s a really good thing if you get your flu shot for your baby.

Can't get it myself due to an egg allergy. My midwife said it really shouldn't be a problem and I should just be conscious when taking the baby out during flu season
