Should I ask

Ok, so there's this guy I like and I think he likes me too. He tickles, teases, hugs, and compliments me often. We've only been hanging out on campus for a few weeks. I did tell some people about him, basically just stating that "there's this guy I like..." I ride horses and at the barn I ride they're having a Halloween/housewarming party for the daughter of the owners. They said I could bring the guy, but I think its kind if weird if I asked him to come to a party with my second family really. However, I asked a few people like my parents and a few close friends and they said to go for it and take a chance if he really liked me he would come. How should I ask? Just outright it's a date, just as friends, don't ask him to the party, or ask him to hangout or go on a date before the party? If you have any other advice or ideas it would be extremely helpful.
