Siblings at delivery!?

My 7.5 (who will be close to 8 at delivery) thinks he wants to be there for the birth. We've had the chats about how baby gets out and it's normal to talk about in our crunchy household. Would you let him be in the room?

My son will almost be 8 also and my plan is have my mom have him at the hospital in the waiting room and after I am cleaned up have her bring him in

Yes but give him a way out. Have a grandparent come check in and see if he is still comfortable. I wouldn't make it a once he starts theres no way out.

I'd be more worried about him seeing you in pain like that or if something bad happened (hopefully nothing will) but imagine how terrified they would be having to be ushered out of the room so quickly. Also look into any policies hospital might have. The one I delivered at with my daughter would allow no one under 14 during delivery.

If he wants to be there I'd say let him be! However I'd also have a separate plan in place where if he decides it's  too much he can leave, say with a grandparent/ aunt/ uncle.

I think its a beautiful thing to share, however I'd just be worried about them getting upset at you crying or in pain? other than that, it would be a special moment x

I think you should allow him to but give him the option out. Make sure that you focus on the miracle that's happening. Explain it in a way that he views as beautiful. New life. Coming earthside. When I was 9 and told my dad I wanted to be a midwife he thought I was insane. He had me watch videos and it didn't even phase me I still wanted to be a midwife. I delivered my first baby by myself at the age of 15. Just try to focus on how beautiful it is and how wonderful that we are capable of such great tolerance and growing such amazing perfect little people.

It's a tough one. Maybe at the beginning but not at the end? Or make sure he watched birth videos first?
Every one is different but 8 might be a little young, could be traumatising depending on how it goes
