Low supply problems.

Je

So I wanted to ebf my whole pregnancy and when it didn't work out the first week I resorted to exclusively pumping.

I was pumping like 12-13 oz a day and supplementing with formula. At his 3 week appointment he was gaining weight amazing but when his pediatrician heard that I quit breastfeeding and was pumping she encouraged me to get back to breastfeeding and called in the lactation consultant to help. I started breastfeeding more and more until I was exclusively bf again with only one bottle at night.

At his 1 month appointment he only gained 1 ounce. 1 ounce in 12 days. I wanted to die right there. He had 1-2 poops a day and 8+ pees. He also seemed content so I thought he was getting enough.

His pediatrician told me to supplement with a bottle at night and when I told her I was already doing that she told me to then try 2 and to come back in 2 days.

Me being paranoid I actually started giving him 3 bottles because I felt like shit that he didn't gain weight. When I went back 2 days later he gained 3oz. Great!

Now as the days went by, he wanted the bottle more and more and would only drink off one breast for 5 minutes and absolutely refused it after.

It got to the point now that I'm exclusively pumping again and he won't take the breast at all. It's fine as long as he's gaining weight.... that's more important.

Now to the low supply problem. Obviously the 14oz I was pumping 3 weeks ago was NOT going to cut it as my son is drinking AT LEAST 24oz a day.

I had to do something so I tried a 10 pumps a day schedule versus 8. I was so discouraged because I didn't feel a huge difference in output. Maybe a quarter ounce hear and a half an ounce there.

Luckily I was recording it all down and I'm actually getting 20oz a day! Not quite the 24 I need but at least it's better than 14.

Now I'm also trying the mothers milk tea, fenugreek, blessed thistle, Gatorade, oatmeal, breast compressions, heat pads, so I don't know exactly what's working and what isn't.

I'm going to keep this 10 pumps a day schedule for a few more days and add some power pumping hoping to see another increase.

If anyone has any pumping tips it will be greatly appreciated.
