we decided to keep the baby no matter what. the screening can only give you statistics on how likely for example down syndrome might be, not a diagnosis. based on that you could make decisions if you want further testing. we didn't want the stress of possibly having to make decisions, that we never wanted to make in the first place... but I can definitely understand if you would want to know.

Non-invasive testing, yes. I almost didn't get tested with my daughter because I knew we wouldn't terminate. Decided to go ahead with the testing. We were shocked to find out she has Down syndrome. It gave us time to prepare for a different baby than we thought we were having. It gave us time to come to terms with the change in plans and educate ourselves on DS and disability in general. She is the best baby! I wouldn't trade her for anything!

We are doing the genetic screenings because some of the diseases that they screen for I couldn't force a child to live with, particularly triosomy 13 and cystic fibrosis.

I’ve had family members do all the testing and had results that said their baby was going to have this condition or that condition and one was even told her pregnancy wasn’t going to last. Turns out, everything was fine. No conditions and the woman who was “supposed to lose” her baby made it all the way and had a great baby. I won’t do testing because they aren’t accurate and make you more stressed than you need to be.

it depends on the cost. I would like to be prepared if there are any abnormalities but obviously wouldnt want unnecessary testing.
