Advice about IUDs

I've tried both the deprovera shot and pill, and both gave me horrible mood swings and worsened my depression. I've been off birth control for 3 months and have felt so much healthier mentally, but I know I need to be safe. I was wondering if anyone has had success with the copper IUD or Mirena.

-I know the copper would be hormone free but I have very heavy periods and don't want to bleed heavily for 6 months straight (like I did on the shot).

-Mirena wouldn't be as bad but I don't want to have constant rollercoaster emotions from the hormones again.

Anyone have advice/similar problems?

Ps. I've gone to the og/byn to get advice and the doctor only seemed interested in getting me out as soon as possible!
