Full moon baby
To start, I went into labor with my first son 5 days early on Friday the 13th, and it was a full moon 🌕. So naturally when I found out my due date with baby #2 was Oct 13 (Friday) I had to laugh and immediately checked to see if it was a full moon. It wasn't, but there was one on the 5th. So I started to tell my husband that was probably when the baby was going to come. All week I was saying it. Well went to bed Oct 4th feeling crummy... no contractions... just feeling run down. Told my family I would prob go into labor tonight cause this is how I felt before I went into labor with my first. At 12:30am Oct 5th I woke up to a pop feeling and a little gush. I said I knew it and ran into the bathroom. Sure enough my water had broken. No contractions yet. My husband woke up asking if everything was ok and I told him my water broke. He asked what that meant 😂 I said it means I'm gonna have this baby soon. He asked if we could wait cause I wasn't having contractions and I said no since my water broke we had to go ahead and go. I showered and changed. Finished packing my last minute items and went to wake my parents up since they were in town to help out whenever the baby was born. Told them to stay here until I checked in and knew what the situation was gonna be. My son was still asleep and I didn't want him to get woke up. Went to the hospital and the nurse said we have to swab you to check for amniotic fluid. I laughed and said ok but I had soaked through 5 pads in less than an hour. She went to check and said "oh yeah, you're ruptured, I'm not even gonna bother" had a couple contractions on the way but nothing big or regular. Nurse hooked me up to the monitor and checked me.. 3-4cm and 75 effaced. Told me she needed me to sign a consent for pitocin, I asked why and she said cause you aren't contracting. I asked her if we could wait because I wanted a natural delivery like I had with my first. She said "oh! I assumed you wanted an epidural cause most everyone does." We talked about my birth plan and the only thing was I couldn't get up and walk around since I was ruptured but I could Bounce on the ball. I said ok. So I took a short nap cause I still wasn't having bad contractions then they started to get alittle more regular around 03:00. Bounced on the ball a little. At 0500 the contractions hit full force and it was god awful back labor. Way worse than my first son. I decided at 0615 to get the epidural she checked me and I was at 5-6cm and Asked of I was sure I said yes and had it in by 0630... let me tell you ladies... It was AMAZING! And I'm almost sorry I went through an 18hr natural labor with my first 😂 but I did it and there are NO TROPHIES for doing it, but I can say if I had to, I know I could.. but I chose to not have to 😜. Anyways, got the epidural and felt great and took another nap. At 0730 they checked me and I was at an 8. Told my parents they should hurry cause they dropped my son off at daycare. At 0800 they came in to place a foley. At 0830 they checked and I was complete. They said they would page the doctor. He came in at 0840 and they got everything ready. My parents were there by this time. Started to push and he was here at 0854!! Dr ended up giving me an episiotomy, which I didn't know about and was a little upset, but didn't care. I was so nervous about having a baby in the States since my first was born in Germany at a German hospital. I was worried about the unnecessary interventions that I hear about. But I spoke up for myself and in the end never needed pitocin caus my body caught up. Here he is and lock up your daughters!!
