⚠️ TW ⚠️ teen rape

Last year a 13 year old boy raped his 8 year old neighbour, and threatened to kill him if he told anyone.

Now 14 & 9, the older boy went to trial, but he was given a suspended sentence because of his previously clean record, troubled home life & age, but will be on the sex offender registry and monitored by police for 7 years and 6 months.

I personally think this is extremely ridiculous, since he raped someone, you’re criminally responsible from age 10, and from what I understand, kids from age 10-17 can be sentenced to juvenile detention.

According to the Australian Institute of Criminology (AIC), “Juveniles commit more property than violent crimes, and generally commit less serious crimes such as graffiti, vandalism, shoplifting, fare evasion, motor vehicle theft, unlawful entry and road traffic offences.”

So if we have kids in there for graffiti, which doesn’t cause anyone harm, why did a kid get away with rape? 😒
