Where does your newborn sleep

Question

I am having trouble getting my newborn (1 week old!) to sleep in the bassinet I have in my room. She won't sleep at night unless in bed with me. I already know about SIDS risks and APA recommendations but am wondering what other moms are doing and if you have any advice for getting LO into the bassinet. I'd rather not have her in bed because it worries me!!

It looks kind of like this. I have my arm crooked so I am unlikely to turn over. I am not someone who moves much in my sleep and am hyper aware of my baby.

My little one sleeps in this for now. He doesnt like his crib just yet. I was sleeping in an oversized chair with him on my chest but it was killing my back and butt. This works so much better. They sell it at BabiesRUs for $60. Best $60 I have spent so far!!

My baby is the same way. They're so used to hearing your heartbeat and being so close to you that it will take some time before they can sleep on their own. I sleep with my baby on my chest or I'll cradle her and prop up pillows under my arm. That's the only way she'll sleep which equals to me getting sleep.

For the first few weeks my husband and I would trade off holding my daughter because she wouldn't sleep unless she was being held. Around a week and a half we discovered the secret of holding a blanket against her while rocking her to sleep. That warmed it enough so that we could put the blanket down before putting her down and she didn't notice the difference in temperature. That way she didn't instantly wake up when she wasn't being held. 
That being said, I have also slept with her in my bed because at night, with breastfeeding every two hours, having to then put her down several times knowing she'll wake up just wasn't worth it to me. I lost so much sleep during that time and she slept so well on my chest. I felt like she felt safe and I felt secure knowing she was right there. I continue to do a combination of the two. If I can't get her down in the middle of the night and I'm just beat, she sleeps with me.

I was co-sleeping the first couple days, it made me nervous but it was the only way he or I would get any sleep. Now I've found my son LOVES his mamaroo, so he's been sleeping in that at night. He's still eating every two hours, once he's a little older and can stay asleep a little longer we will move to the bassinet. (That he currently naps in to get used to the bassinet)

I can get my son to sleep in his bassinet until about 3am. At that point he is so unbelievably fussy. I swore I'd never do it but from 3 to 7am he does sleep with me in bed. It calms him down an allow both me an my husband to get sleep before he goes to work at 7. You just gotta find a good method/routine. Keep in mind and take precautions with whatever you do

My baby us 3 weeks old now sad some nights it's been rough. He didn't like the open, flat space of the original bassinet so we got a Rock N Play sleeper. He does much better in that because it's on an incline and also very confining, like he's used to. I've read that the Rock N Play wasn't designed for long term sleep but our pediatrician said it's fine. Are you swaddling? That will help a lot too.

How can you cosleep with an infant? I'm not judging Im just curious. I can't imagine sleeping with my 6 week old in my bed
