Is pregnancy over 41 Really that risky???

Question

We've been doing IVF and Im not sure what age to quit. Will be 42 in January & terrified of the risks the older I get. I worry about disabilities, problems, more miscarriages, stillbirths, my body sustaining this. Can anyone ease my fears???

I’m 52 with successful IVF that took first time. I’m 34 weeks pregnant and will deliver in 3 weeks. My pregnancy has also been closely monitored and is text book. Put your mind at ease mamma and live in the moment 💐😘

I’m 42 with a beautiful 8 week baby boy. Thanks to my Obstetrician, my pregnancy was textbook perfect and my baby is healthy with no disabilities - even though I have congenital hearing loss. Have faith that yes whilst the risks are higher, you’ll be closely monitored to pick up on any issues or concerns early...and things will be okay.

scientifically yes it is more dangerous over 40 for all those reasons you mentioned, but with the aid of genetic testing, hormone support etc you can limit those risks. multiple women in my ivf groups got pregnant with zero issues arising far quicker than I did with seven rounds in my 20s and losses along the way.

No matter what age there are so many risks and factors. Just take care of yourself the best you can so you can have the energy needed. The patients, stability and wisdom that come with age are such a blessing to have when having a child later.
