TMI---new to checkimg CM

ok so maybe TMI...but I checked my cervical mucus for the first time just now. I just got off my period yesterday. Today it is a white-ish/clear (mostly clear though) color and stretches about half an inch. is this normal for this time in my cycle or is it possible I am ovulating already? and if I am not, how will I know the difference when I actually am? Any info you experienced ladies can give would be greatly appreciated!
