Is it wrong to not ask for child support?

Me and my child’s father aren’t together. He’s excited for the baby and wants to contribute and so does his family. I’m reluctant to ask for child support because what if he gives more without it? Idk what do u guys think?

I’m in the same boat. I said basically if he’s contributing on his own then I won’t put him on child support.

If he’s willing to help without taking it to court for child support I’d do that. See how it goes and if he starts not helping out like he should then you can always take him for child support later

First, let me say, I've been through a divorce, have a son and have court ordered child support. So my advice is from my experience, the advice of my lawyer, and a Child Advocate.
Please don't be naive. The best thing you can do for yourself and your child is to get court ordered child support. If he's a good guy he'll understand that you're just doing what's best for your child and for yourself. And if he's a really good guy, he'll help out in addition to the court mandated amount. 
Life happens, shit happens. If you have court ordered support, he can never wriggle his way out of it. He can't make excuses for not paying, or heck he can't just stop paying in general. Even court ordered support isnt a guarantee, but at least you'll have the law on your side and some way to get restitution.
I see so many women saying "oh I trust him" and "he's a good guy" and "he'd never not support his kid." Think again. Don't be that girl. Better to be safe now, than sorry later. You're better off planning for the worst case scenario now and having it turn out better than expected, than be naive, expect the best and then get a slap in the face when he refuses to give you a dime....

I don’t believe in bringing in the courts. If he’s a great dad, loves & provides for the baby, there’s no reason. Come up with a visitation plan. Tell him you’ll ask him for things NEEDED & coparent peacefully.
