Break up

So yesterday while I was at work i was texting my boyfriend and he said he was at his friends game, a girl who he used to have feelings for and I've already had problems with him letting her blow up his phone while we were hanging out. I got really pissed because he and I have been on the fence because he told me I was too much to handle because he's too stressed out with school and he complained to a mutual friend that he hates driving 45 minutes to pick me up and that I cost him a lot of money. Was it wrong of me to say that we just weren't in the position to be together?
