my kids are 4.5 years apart and big sis helps with little sis an UNBELIEVABLE amount! she is old enough to understand why she isn't getting as much attention. she can sit and adore little sis, play by herself if need be, and when baby is asleep and I HAVE to nap... big sis is able to sit with a movie and a snack while I catch a nap!  I am so incredibly that we waited as long as we did

We have 17, 15, 13, 7, 4 and 1. I always suggest 3-4 years. It’s much easier to manage.

My son will be 4.5 when baby is born. He’s from my previous marriage so the gap wasn’t necessarily planned but I like that he’s old enough to comprehend what’s going on. If we have another I’d probably try for at least a three year gap.
