Charlotte Nicole
Now that I have had a few days, I’d love to share my quick birthing story! Charlotte was due 10-4-17, but I was scheduled for an induction on the 5th due to being dilated to four but not effaced at all. So on the fourth I got up like everyday and took my six year old to school. Came home and took a hot bath (I had decided it was me day and did a face mask, shaved my legs, painted my toes). After the bath I tried to lay back down with my husband (its now around 8am). I dozed on and off until 9 am when i started feeling worse than normal back pains. I got up and moved around, got out my heating pad, did some stretches and they continued to intensify. I woke up husband up and told him to go ahead and get in the shower just in case and then called my mother. As I was explaining the pain to my mom (my first was a scheduled induction so I never had dealt with a ton of labor pains) I told her it was about 4 and a half minutes apart and she yelled at me! Lol she said “go get that man and start driving honey your In freaking labor”. So that’s what I did and off we went. On the way they got more intense and by time we got to L&D; triage I was in pretty bad pain. They monitored me and checked me I was 4 and a half and 3 minutes 30 seconds apart 70% effaced. They moved me to a real room and hooked me up to the IV fluids. Shortly after the doc came in and we discussed my birth plan. My goal was natural delivery, no epidural if I could help it. She was 100% on board and also said that as long as I didn’t stall out she didn’t feel any need for pitocin either. She then broke my water and the pains of hell came a knocking. I was so close to asking for the epidural, but my husband was the absolute best birthing coach on earth and helped me breath through every contraction. I did ask for the IV pain meds after they broke my water to take off the edge, and they helped a ton! Once I was ready to push is when the panic set in. It hurt, and I felt like I couldn’t breath. They put oxygen on me which made me feel even worse (that tiny mask is even more suffocating in my opinion). I remember my doctor telling me “screaming isn’t pushing honey PUSH don’t yell!” After 15 minutes of pushing she was here. 8lbs 5oz 20 inches long. From the time I started labor at home until her arrival was total only 6hours, and only 4 of that at the hospital. I only needed one stitch and I have healed amazingly! Don’t let anyone discourage you from going natural ladies! My recovery this time compared to my first has been a breeze! You are capable of anything!
This is our “Charlie” today at now 12 days old.
