car seat rear or forward?

Guidelines say to keep child rear facing until 2-3 years old but what if your kid is very tall and forward facing would be more comfortable?

Babies will find a way to put their legs, even if they look uncomfortable I'm sure they're not, please keep baby rear facing as long as possible, it's what safest for baby. My little one has short legs so we haven't ran into this problem yet but I've always said I would rather my baby be alive and have a broken leg then what could possibly happen.

It’s a bone structure thing. So she. Not a weight thing like the laws state. It’s proven that a kids spinal column isn’t fused and ready for any type of forward impact until closer to 4. So by turning your kid early you are risking internal decapitation and death if you were in a car accident. It isn’t worth it. They’ll find a way to manage their legs. Kids are so flexible. Please keep them rear facing as long as you possibly can. 
And for those that have turned yours around, it isn’t too late to turn them back rear facing.

I have my son forward facing because our car is too small to extend the headrest while rear facing, which is extremely dangerous. While I'm concerned, always, for his safety, I'm not able to buy a new carseat or a new car.  It was easiest to just turn him around. However, if you can safely keep your child rear-facing longer, please do so. Ask your pediatrician for more information on the topic. :)

I would ask your pediatrician. It’s not necessarily based on their height but also their weight and age. Each state has different laws. In AZ they have to stay rear facing until 1 years old and weight at least 20 lbs before you can turn them to front facing.

We'll be keeping our daughter rear facing as long as her car seat allows. She's always been in the 90th percentile for height so we purposely bought one with a high rear-facing height a weight limit. They're flexible little people and will find ways to make themselves comfy.

forward facing in Dad's car after she outgrew infant car seat and larger models didn't allow him to put his seat where it needed to be. Rear facing in my car still and definitely not happy about it LOL
