Question about OPK results

Christina.

So I’m not entirely new to this parenting thing. One would assume I’d have my sh*t together when it comes to ttc, as I’m already a mother 😂

My husband and I have been trying for another for a few months now. He has some issues going on like extremely low testosterone (it runs in his family) and he works 16 hours days 6 days a week sometimes (he’s an officer). So sometimes we don’t hit O day correctly. But I’m starting to really track using OPKs the last two months in an attempt to hit it right.

Last month we missed our chance because of an unexpected mandatory OT night, and this month I promised not to test until a few days before my expected ovulation (which is supposed to be the 18th as AF showed on the 1st of October ((just spotting)) and a real bleed on the 4th). I tested on the 14th with a digital advanced reader, and it gave me an O for low fertility day. The next morning, I got a solid smiley for peak ovulation. My question now is, does a new test automatically give you a O the first use? And if so, what are the chances I hit peak the day before? Test stays at peak for two days before disappearing. I’m just wondering if we missed actual peak day, and hit the following day, which slashes our odds. I should never have tested, because I’m back to being insane about it, even though the point was to enjoy the ride ugh.
