Shaving the vag 🙃

Soooo... I never get razor bumps on the top part of my public area. But I always do around the area that's right next to my vaginal opening. So it hurts to have sex the day of or after because it's sliding right next to that skin and irritating it EVEN MORE. Is there a right way to shave this area? Am I shaving this area wrong?! I just shave it like I do the rest of it. Any after products work? I've tried witch hazel and deodorant and neither work. What about baby powder to stop the chafing?
