Does anyone else think if you cant afford pregnancy tests/ovulation tests, you probably shouldn't be TTC? (expensive, not cheap)

if you (in general, not actually you) can't afford pregnancy tests how are you going to afford a baby?
I can see not wanting to spend money on ovulation tests but not being able to afford it is kind of scary if you want a baby

From my perspective, hpts and opks fall into the nice to have category. Also, anything can happen any time financially. How do you think pregnant mommas felt when the great depression hit and they were suddenly facing foreclosure? I think you should work hard to be stable, especially when expecting or ttc, but don't set unreasonable expectations either. I have health insurance through Hubby's work, and doctor visits are not that expensive for us, while nice to have items are things we generally do not buy. That said, we do buy store brand hpts every time we are TTC, just so I don't go insane. I only use them sparingly, and never test early, because we cant afford to waste. I have never even considered using opks, but never waited more than 6 months to conceive. We more than make ends meet, with me at home, two kids, and a third on the way. For some of us, "can't afford" is as much a matter of prioritizing as it is financial stability.

I think that so many people are led by their heart, that they do not allow time for their heads to follow. If it is a struggle to buy $10-$15 pregnancy tests, what about the expense of a baby? Diapers? Clothes? Doctor visits? Experiences? It isn't something I would do. I want my children to have a certain quality of life that dictates my husband and I be in  a certain place financially. I will say this... many families have babies before itnia financially sound to do so, and they make it work. I won't say that as long as baby is loved, that's all that matters, but I will say that as long as baby is fed and clothes, and isn't going without necessities...who am I to judge?
