A Canadian man and his American wife were abducted by a Taliban group in Afghanistan 5 years ago. During their time in captivity, they decided they were going to try for a family - since they’d always dreamed of having a big family and didn’t want to let their captivity get in the way.

During those 5 years, they had 3 children, ages now 4, 2, and 6 months.

They were just recently released, but the question remains: was it morally okay for them to intentionally bring children into their life of captivity where they lived in darkness and the only food they received was covered in a thick film of mold?
