Second trimester, Well I didn’t expect this...

Amber • Hello Everyone! Thank you for stopping by my profile! I am currently the mother of a wonderful autistic 5yo girl named Aria, and baby Lyra who was born in September. I’m pretty blunt and I live in fact, I don’t sugar coat. Be warned. Aria - 1/27/18

Hey Everyone!

So I’ve spent most of my first and second trimesters with nothing to really complain about. Had minimal morning sickness, some aches and pains but nothing serious.

Being a High Risk first time mother is scary to begin with. I am 24+1 weeks and I’ve already had 4 ultrasounds with the 5th coming up in November. My little girl fights my diabetes with me. I knew having type one made pregnancy more complicated, and of course got to hear all the horror stories of what my high blood sugars could do to my little bouncing ball of joy.

But I didn’t expect this!!! No appetite midway through, nothing... I’m not hungry, and now I’m starting to lose the baby weight I had gained already. So yesterday my Endocrinologist decided enough was enough and started me on meal replacement, much to my distaste. I am now on 3 ensure a day, along with a snack before bed. Even if I do actually eat a meal I will still need the shakes until I gain at least 5lbs. Then I can drop the shakes as long as I continue to eat normally. The shakes are still rather low carb, but it gets her the nutrients she needs!

Anyone else have issues with hunger? What did you try to combat it?
