Ortho Tri-Cyclen?

Question

I just got prescribed ortho tri cyclen today. I'm a little nervous to be trying something new. Stories please! Good, bad, doesn't matter I just need a little background before I start taking it.

That was the only birth control I've ever been on & I was on it for 3-4 years before ttc with my fiancé. It served its purpose, we never had a scare while I was taking it. I set a reminder on my phone to take it everyday at the same time & eventually it just became a habit & part of my routine. My doctor did warn me that it could cause headaches & it did for me. I had a headache almost everyday for the first month, but they did subside. Most people will say they make you gain weight, but that's a lie & my doctor confirmed that. I lost 30+ pounds in 3 months while taking them due to exercise & eating right. So if you're at least eating right you will lose or at least maintain your weight like you would normally. I loved taking them, they done what they was suppose to do & they regulated my periods.

I actually really like it, I've never tried anything else so I don't have anything to compare it to. I do get a bit nauseated & some headaches right after taking it but that's only once in a while. Also, I feel like I lost some weight, i was 132 when I started now I'm at 117 sometimes I go down to 113 I THINK it's the pill that made me lose weight bc I started exactly a year ago & that's when the weight loss started, but it can also be because I have problems w/ my thyroid (very active). So it's kind of hard to tell what causes the weight lose. My period is always on time w/ some light cramps. That's pretty much MY experience everyone is different. If your body doesn't agree to it you should def change it. Good luck 💕.

I took it in high school for a brief time and then tried again in college and both times, I absolutely hated it, as well as Ortho Tri-Cyclen Low. I felt out of control with my emotions, gained 5-10lbs, and my boobs got bigger. Then, when I quit taking it, the reduction of hormones made me feel empty and depressed. I quit taking hormonal BC after I tried it in college. After my son was born in 2009, I got the copper IUD (non hormonal) at my 6 week post partum checkup and I've had it ever since.

I took a while ago, started at 14 or 15 and stopped at 18 (I'm 26 now) - it helped me control my periods and worked as BC. It made my boobs bigger and I always had 10 or so pounds of extra chunk. Once I got off it the boobs and the ten pounds fell off haha

I've taken it since I was 14 years old. I'm almost 20. I gained a lot of weight when I started it, but that could have also been that I was going through bad depression, a move across country, and it also could just be puberty. I've had one pregnancy on it, but that was my fault for not taking it correctly (I forgot a few days in a row and didn't use any other protection). Otherwise, I love it. My "periods" (breakthrough bleeding) generally start on the 4th sugar pill and last until the 2nd or 3rd day on my new pack. They're not too heavy, but they're still not super light. It kinda depends on you honestly. Taking it has effected me this way, but it might be completely different for you.
