How fast is too fast for feeding a preemie?

Alisha

my son is 3 weeks old. He was born at 35 weeks. He struggled with feeding in the nicu for two weeks and finally worked up to about 60-65mls and was released after 14 days and were told to continue working on increasing how much he takes... it has always taken him 45 to 75 minutes to eat no matter how much it was we just worked on volume during that time as he was only 4lbs 4oz and needed to gain weight, he struggled with falling asleep during and wearing himself out.... He began taking 75-80 a couple day ago and I have noticed a lot of issues with him being gassy the last day or two... i backed him off to 70 again and was finally able to get in touch with his doctor who says he is fine with 50-70ml being the goal for a while.... it should be plenty, the nicu likes to push increases too hard sometimes.... so tonight I offered him 70 total but also decided to try a new bottle to help the gas issues as we were still using the medela bottles the nicu had him using...... guys.... He took 60mls in 10 minutes! no choking, no Brady's, no leaking.... He did spit up a tiny bit afterwards which isn't uncommon for him the last few days even with the old bottles .... He is wide awake, calm and interactive, not exhausted and fussy like normal...... is 10 minutes too fast? should I slow him down a bit or go back to the nicu bottles? I plan on asking his doctor tomorrow but I'm just floored here!!!
