Trouble with BC Pills

I'm 28 yrs old. I've been on the same birth control for 8 years. For the last 4 months I've been getting my period either 1-2 weeks before the inactive pills or the week after. I called my doctor and I have an appointment today. Just want to know if anybody ever experienced this before.
