NHS cutting surgeries indefinitely for the obese and smokers
Nhs, the socialized medical coverage for those in the UK, which is facing financial collapse is now looking to INDEFINITELY delay non urgent surgeries for the obese and smokers. Using the guise of encouraging better health, the move comes as they seek to cut millions from the ailing program. Surgeons and doctors have spoken out against this saying that delaying surgeries can lead to more serious problems and lower success rates. This is why socialized medicine terrifies me. Yes no one wants people to smoke or be overweight, but to punish them especially if they are taxpayers, seems like a seriously scary slippery slope. Next week it can be anyone who is vegan, anyone who drinks or does drugs, anyone who drinks soda, anyone who dyes their hair or used other chemicals on their body, the list is endless. To me this is seriously wrong and aside from the unsustainable economics of it, it boggles my mind how people who complain so much about government, hate the president etc want to give the government this much more control over our lives. I’d be particularly interested to hear from people in the UK as I am in America and see liberals pushing our country toward an nhs system while completely ignorant of the costs, tax increases, horrid wait times and now possibly discriminatory practices of it.
