stretch an sweep

is it normal to be offered a stretch and sweep from 38 weeks? im 36+3 and had an appointment with my consultant today and she said i can have a stretch and sweep at my next midwife appointment when i will be 38 weeks and she then said i can have them weekly from then on just wondering if this is normal or if 38 weeks is a bit early?

I wouldn’t do it until you’re 39-40 weeks. Before 39 it’s kind of a hit and miss. I had my sweep done at 40w1d, had sex after and went into labor that night.

it's normal, a stretch and sweep only progresses labor of the baby is ready to come, mine attempted one at 38 weeks and I was closed still so we couldn't, did one at 39 weeks and nothing changed lol then did it again at 40 weeks and water broke once I stood up lol
