litterbox help?

has anyone had to clean the litterbox regularly while pregnant? i know it's frowned upon but sometimes we don't have a choice but to do it ourselves. what is the best way to handle litterbox maintenance? gloves, mask, obsessive hand washing? Thanks!

My midwife told me to wear gloves when cleaning the litter box and thoroughly wash hands after. I had two indoor cats and I was perfectly fine.

Are your cats indoors or out? If they are in doors it's not as much of a hazard. The thing people worry about are called toxoplasmas. They come from raw meat(mice, rats) eaten by cats. My cats are strictly indoors but I do still wear a mask every time I have to clean it and I wash with antibacterial soap and do hand sanitizer after!

I did my cat's litter box almost the entire time I was pregnant. He is a strictly indoor cat and our only pet, so the likelihood of him having toxoplasmosis is pretty low. I always covered my face and washed my hands well afterwards. Sometimes we just don't have the option of having someone else do it for us.
