I was getting faint positives, then started bleeding so I assumed this was a chemical. However, the tests are getting darker, had a positive digital,  but I'm still bleeding. If I'm miscarrying as we speak, wouldn't the tests be getting lighter ?  Or does hcg hit a peak then go back down? Thank you. This sucks. 😥

Hard to tell. Tests show a clear line with a small amount of hcg so it may take a while for the tests to become negative. Also some bleeding in early pregnancy is completely normal. You should ask your doctor. They’ll monitor your hcg levels and will be able to give you a better answer.

Mine got darker during my miscarriage. I would get a blood test and see what your levels are.

Generally with a chemical, the hcg level declines pretty fast, so if your tests are still getting darker that’s a good sign!! 
Also, you can bleed in early pregnancy. It can be considered “normal”. (To help put your mind st ease a little)
Just take it easy if you can and keep testing. You still have hope!
