How can I count labor length?

So I was Induced and gave birth almost 11 weeks ago and Just starting to wonder now how do I count the hours of labor I’ve endured (you know how those mothers in movies like to bring that up when the kids are misbehaving). So my question is, do I count from the time the cervidil was inserted, or when I started having contractions, or when pitocin started? Any ideas?

I start counting from when I got to the hospital. Mine was 29 hours 🙄

I count when my contractions started. 1130pm Thursday night, water broke around 12am. Got to the hospital around 230 and was 4cm, within an hour and a half I was 10cm.......waited an hour for the baby to descend naturally and pushed for 30 minutes. First baby and labor was about 6 hours total 😳😳😳😳

I had the same question! From when my water broke and we went to the hospital it was 21 hours, so that's probably the one that counts, but I'm going to tell her from when contractions started, so 4 days! I had predromal labor for 3 days before the party really got started.

I count from when I felt my first contraction since that’s technically early labor. I was in labor for 4.5 hours and gave birth 20 minutes after my water broke on its own.

I have this same question.. bc I got admitted into the hospital for my induction on a Monday at 8am, but didn’t have my son until Wednesday at 3:46am. I didn’t get into labor and delivery until tuesday around 10:45... and that’s when I got pitocin. They broke my water at 4pm. Not sure where to start ‘Labor’ bc I didn’t even feel contractions until they broke my water.

From the time my water broke until I delivered was 5 hours, but not everyone’s water breaks so I would say from the time your contractions were consistent, 5 mins apart and 1 min long. which was 8 hours for me.

I second that! I woke up Tuesday around 7:30a started having contractions on & off around 8p they were constantly in my back so we went to the hospital I got sent home since they weren’t reading on the monitor and I was only 2cm at 10p. Around midnight my contraction picked up an by 3a I was ready to head back to the hospital we made it to the hospital at 4:45a Wednesday an my son was delivered at 6:15a. Everyone tells me I progressed quickly for baby number one. 🤷‍♀️

I usually go from when I was admitted to the hospital to when she was here. So mine was about 6 hours- I pushed for about 45 minutes.

I’m counting from the first time I woke up with cramping, which I now know was early labor. It was about 1am and I gave birth that night at 10:25pm. So 21.5 hours, give or take. Only pushed for 20 minutes or so, though!
